The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) disclosed the universally acknowledged payment dates for October 2025 for the Old Age Grant. This information is crucial for millions of pensioners, as these grants are their only source of income. Beneficiaries will be treated to an increased payment amounting to R2,315 as a recent measure to support senior citizens in coping with rising living expenses.
Old Age Grant Increased To R2,315
Slow and steady increments have characterized the Old Age Grant payments in recent months, allowing pensioners to shield themselves against inflation and economic constraints. Paid from the government’s kitty out of an intention to provide enhanced social support to the elderly, this increment has become more pertinent since the prices of essentials such as food, electricity, and hospital accommodation have been on the increase across the country.
October 2025 Payment Dates
In order to give pensioners the chance to organize their monthly working requirements, SASSA has released a list of specific payment dates for October 2025. Apart from assuring the beneficiaries that their money will be credited to them very early in the month, payments will begin in the first week of October. Beneficiaries who deposit their money into their bank accounts, through their SASSA cards, or through other recognized retailers will be fully able to take out their money on those dates without any delay.
- Old Age Grant payments from Thursday 2 October 2025.
- Disability Grant payments soon after.
- Children’s Grants and others paid in the days thereafter.
How To Access Your Grant In A Secure Manner
Beneficiaries may withdraw their grants at ATM machines, retail stores, or pay point offices. To avoid long lines and possible scams, pensioners should use safe channels like SASSA card withdrawals, or bank transfers. Those who receive payment through retailers should make sure they visit legitimate outlets only.
What Pensioners Should Do Now
SASSA urges beneficiaries to keep their details up to date. Should there be any changes to bank accounts, addresses, or contact details, they should be reported immediately, to avoid deferments in payments. Pensioners are also reminded to guard their PINs. They should be aware of fraudsters claiming to offer “faster payments”.
